This comprehensive class prepares students for possibly the biggest responsibility of their lives to date: driving a motor vehicle. During this 3-week intensive Driver's Ed program, the students read the DMV Handbook, discuss the laws and regulations with their classmates and instructor, watch videos, and take tests. Besides teaching the students the rules and regulations required to pass the driver's license, Merit prepares the students to maintain their vehicles, purchase new or used cars and insurance, and meet other teens who have lost their rights to drive. A series of guest speakers and demonstrations will provide students with information and insight into other aspects of driving and vehicle responsibility, including sobriety, accidents, first aid, car purchasing and car maintenance. Upon completion of Merit's Driver Education program, the students are well educated about the risks and responsibilities of driving a motor vehicle.
