"Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management" was and is hugely popular. "Know Your Onions" contains recipes and household hints from books and magazines published from about 1820 to the 1860s; books and magazines that may have influenced Mrs Beeton. Some of the recipes and household hints are from Samuel Beeton's "Englishwoman's Domestic Magazine" and may well have been contributed by Mrs Beeton herself.

"more preview needed?" The preview was in its own way mouth-watering, though it was a very short alphabetical listing. Is the rest of the book in this format? Anyway well done for resurrecting this classic which reveals how our forefathers ate.
"Re: more preview needed?" Ian Thank you for your comment which I have just spotted! The rest of the book is in the same format. Perhaps I need to reword the preview - this is not Mrs Beeton's own book, but extracts from other publications published in the 19th century. Best wishes Susan
