As the oldest child, Sophie and her father share a special bond. When he passes away unexpectedly she is left to grapple with the impact of the tragedy on her, her younger sister Hannah, and their mother.
Individually and collectively, they struggle to cope with their grief, while knowing they must eventually move on. Kingfisher beautifully illuminates the tension between the desire to hold on to what we deeply love, against the certainty and experience of its eventual loss. It is a moving meditation on the transient nature of even our oldest and deepest bonds, and how the past, through our memories, filters and guides our hopes for the future.
