The voice of and for a generation. This book is a brave work and a magnificent accomplishment. The author's ability to easily draw one into the situation in just a few short sentences leaves the reader feeling deeply involved. Who said you had to be over 30 before you actually experienced anything? Why are we so afraid to delve into the minds and hearts of the younger generations? We're talking about an important generation, our next wave of leaders, teachers, scholars. We can read books that romanticize other generations through the eyes of a teen and while that's all well and good it doesn't have a sense of what is critical and relevant RIGHT NOW. I gave this book five stars because not only is it technically well written but it is most certainly a read worthy of everyone's time. It may seem to speak about a life (singular) but it also speaks for a generation.

Sixteenth Notes is a highly personal and intimate piece of work which turned into some of the best writing I have ever read. Taylor's command of the English language is exquisite and other worldly. Somehow she always knows how to say things in the most perfect way. This book gets into the very heart and soul of the author and suddenly you feel yourself relating to her struggling and pain. Definitely looking forward to her next work. If you want something real and authentic, this is the book for you.

A stunning and emotional read, well worth it. I cried, I laughed, but mostly I felt. I could feel the pain in her words as I read and that's the sign of a true poet. I highly recommend it.

It's not often that I cry when reading a book. I did with this one though, multiple times in fact. This book is written with no remorse and in total truthfulness. I loved it. The magic Taylor does with words is magnificent. This book details her life and you get to know what was in her mind during a certain time, and you feel happiness at some points, sadness at some, and some gray area at others. I will be reading this book again soon. It is a piece of great literature.
