"If You Like This, I Might Write Another" Now here's a thing. tc moon is a man I first met when he was a pimply teenager working in my local service station. He was just that little bit different. Something more than a kid earning pocket money by serving petrol to travellers. I don't know why we clicked. I was a successful rock music journalist working in London and sending stories and reviews all over the world (my dubious claims to fame include the first interview in England with Bono and the last interview ever with Cat Stevens - unless he changes back from Yusif Islam. Anyway, tc (or Ron as I knew him then) and I came together during the golden age of Virgin Records. This was the time when The Sex Pistols were on the front page of every tabloid in the country. Virgin believed that Australian journalists had a very tabloid mentality - and it was a colleague of mine who managed to keep the Pistols on the front pages for weeks. Anyway, at that time Peter Cook and Dudley... More > Moore were making the second of their infamous Derek and Clive records. The first had been released on Island and Virgin had signed them for a second one. I was invited by Al Clark, the Virgin press officer, to go and see the recording. Oh, by the way, Al Clark now lives in Australia and is a very successful movie producer. It was he who produced Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Anyway, tc moon decided to play Derek and Clive while working for the service station. He was sacked. Virgin wanted publicity. I told Al Clark and, hey presto, tc ended up in London meeting Peter Cook and enjoying his 15 minutes of fame. It is great that he is about to extend that 15 minutes with this delightful collection of poetry. He is a natural. A true poet in the sense that he does it because he loves it and he writes as he speaks. If you want to hear the voice of Berinsfield, Oxfordshire (and be part of English music history) then buy this book. I recommend it.< Less
