The P-51 Mustangs flying over the Big Sky Country of Montana attracted David Jensen's attention at a young age. He wanted to fly. The Vietnam War loomed by the time he had the chance to pursue that dream as a college student in Air Force ROTC. His first assignment after pilot training led him to Southeast Asia for a year of military service to his country, leaving behind a pregnant wife and baby girl.
Unlike the hard-living Vietnam Vets sometimes depicted in movies or books, David's membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shaped his choices through the life and death challenges of war. His dedication to his family, his job, his country and his faith supported him as he gave support from the sky.
