Brought to us by veteran editor Dorothy Davies, “Bringing It Back” is an entertaining collection of well written stories loosely connected by a common theme. The anthology is well balanced and each story is worthy of its inclusion. I found several especially memorable. In “Smokin’”, Ken Goldman takes us on a delightful trip to the bygone days of rock. Australian author R.A. Goli offers “Fingers To The Bone”. A disturbing tale that left me looking for more of her work. “The Chamber Revisited” is a heartbreaking poem by Patricia Purvis and some creepy revenge is suggested in Dorothy Davies own “Back Where I Belong”. Pets don’t always come back the same in Dan Allen’s “Missing Things”. Creepy and unforgettable. Tragedies of war return to haunt an Afghanistan vet in “Cursed” by Jeff Dossier. I found this haunting story especially creative. “Blood Urge” by Gerald E. Sheagren is a sexy love story I won’t soon forget. James Pyne’s “The Monster in the Fog” reminds us to be careful who we... Well written flash fiction by John Howe, Eugen Bacon, and Rie Sheridan Rose round out the pacing. The anthology ends with a terrifying tribute to a serial killer from long ago in Justin Boote’s “Bringing Them Back” In all there are 37 creepy and sometimes humorous stories from terrific authors. I give “Bringing It Back” 5 stars and I would recommend this anthology for anyone who likes their fiction a little on the dark side.< Less
