“If you have sought out this memoir anticipating only the tale of my one-hundred-year imprisonment in a mystical cave and subsequent victory over a malevolent extraterrestrial race intent on destroying Earth, you have arrived with what I can only characterize as limited expectations.”
So begins The Strange and Thrilling Adventures of James Charles Fogarty, in which an arrogant, bumbling inventor from the early 1900s becomes trapped deep beneath the badlands of Montana for over a century. His unintended tumble underground initiates a series of events on the surface that threaten the fate of the human race, and when he finally escapes he finds he is the only man who can save the planet.
This humorous, action-packed novel is appropriate for readers of all ages.

Loved this book! This story carries you on an adventure that takes your imagination from the depths of the earth to a far unknown galaxy and creates a clever friendship between two unlikely "characters" during a far reaching time-line on planet Earth. It's witty, fun and engaging with twists and turns that keeps you turning each page to find out MORE!
Each time I read one of Christian’s books I’m even more markedly affected, awed in fact, by the fresh character voices he creates. They’re real. They’re lovable in their faults. They’re relatable. In the case of The Strange and Thrilling Adventures of James Charles Fogarty I’m not let down. This book, championed by the irrepressibly and delightfully self-important James Charles Fogarty himself, is about invention, pacifism, love, friendship, dancing, music, the passing of time and nearly forgotten words. Don’t let me forget to mention the extraterrestrials! It’s a laugh out loud tale that made me rush to finish it and then made me sad when I realized I’d arrived at the final page. Buy it! Read it! You’ll love it!
