If you are a WNT fan, you should read this book. The chapters on the early years really let us know what it was like to be on the national team before they became famous and the chapter about Brandi Chastain is great. I always wondered what it was like to be her after the 99 final. There are a lot of great stories throughout the book. I’m re-reading it. Loved it!

If there were ever a person around the soccer pitch who could accurately describe the tintinnabulation of balls pinging forcefully off the crossbar and down into the goal, it would be Tim Nash. Tim is a writer's writer in the H.L. Mencken or Jack Germond mold. His reporting of soccer history is honest and dispassionate, but with the full reflection and acknowledgement of the passion of the players - passion being an essential quality to the highest levels of competitive success. Nash is not a booster. He is an accurate lens through which we can go back in time to the very beginning and see how the most successful women's sport in the USA has grown and become sustained as the World's best over the past 30 years.
