This is a beautiful calendar illustrating the incredible scenery of the Continental Divide Ride, the lovely flora that can be seen along the way, and the warm camaraderie of a somewhat peculiar group of motorcyclists who made the trip.
This is Caldwell's second calendar featuring wildflowers and motorcycles, and its publication will draw obvious comparisons with his 2011 effort, Wildflowers of the TAT. Together, the two works raise demanding artistic questions - Why is he doing this again? And, Does his obsession with wildflowers stem from an inner, private, unresolved conflict between the engineer's overt rationality and the hidden romantic's yearning vision of nature? Or is he just a queer?. Should ANY calendar cost thirty bucks? And did Caldwell get permission from any of the seven poor saps featured in the calendar, to include their mugs in this sorry publication? Answers will have to await the 2013 Winter Blues therapy session . . . .
