This book is a tribute to all the men and women who have served, currently serve and will serve in Naval Aviation. Remember that freedom doesn't come free and much effort is needed to maintain this value, as it is the highest achievement in human life. Joseph "Hoser" Satrapa is one of those Naval Aviators who dedicated a large share of his life to serve his country. He continues to serve his community today in the California Department of Forestry.
Before the Tailhook scandal and the advent of "political correctness" there were US Navy fighter pilots that defied decorum, that pushed and redefined the flying envelope with their aggressive use of their machines, and that lived on the edge of peril with a no-holds barred, warrior mind-set. This is a book filled with the tales of such a man, his larger-than-life exploits, and the accomplishments that set him apart from the rest of the pack.

Sep 25, 2017This book had me laughing so hard I thought my sides were going to split. Educational, funny and true to life. It is the unvarnished life story of a one of the most colorful Tomcat drivers that puts you right in the cockpit and out on the flight line. Kudos to the Tomcat-Sunset.Org staff for creating this wonderful book.

Dec 13, 2012Now my "Go-To" gift book for real men, and the men who wish they were these men. As a member of VF-101 in the late 90's, this sure brought back some great memories of a time when Aviators and NFO's reigned supreme in the air, and knew how to blow off steam on the ground with style and good-ol'boy humor. This book brings those days back to life in spades. A must-read for every old AND new fighter pilot, who wants to know what it takes to fight to fly, dance with death and covort in the clouds. Best money I've spent in years... and suggest it for new Navy flight surgeons to know what the "Naval Aviator" is all about. Matt "Doc" Rings VF-101 '97-'01

Oct 21, 2012This is a fun, raw, action-packed collection of tales that covers Naval Aviation from the 1960s into the 1990s, and then shifts to aerial firefighting, which is every bit as exciting and dangerous. The stories are told casually, as if you were having a cold beverage with the main character and his friends. As a former F-14 radar intercept officer (RIO) and lifelong aviation enthusiast, I'm familiar with most of the subject matter, and I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was exciting and revealing. It concentrates on the adventures, but doesn't cover up the cost - as in the loss of good friends. If you are looking for a great aviation book, get this one!

Sep 16, 2012What a fantastic collection of stories! The informal nature of the book and the colorful jargon create an experience unlike any other. If you are interested in Naval Aviation, and especially if you have ever been fortunate enough to be involved in it, this book is a MUST for your library.
