In this unique volume Toni reveals her secrets and shares her knowledge from over 20 years as a tarot reader. The System of Symbols has the full symbolic meaning of each tarot card, how to interpret each tarot card, including reversed tarot interpretations, true life examples and key words for easy use. There is also information on the use of numbers in tarot, part of the art which is often forgotten these days, and yet is vital to a true understanding of tarot.
The System of Symbols is illustrated throughout with black and white images of Toni's own tarot designs. She also includes association of the cards to the Bach Flower Remedies.

The best book on Tarot I have seen. That is also the opinion of many well-read readers I know of... who have read many of the popular titles that usually make much of connections to Kabbalah and Astrology, unnnecessary correlations to assimilate and synthesize that which is already wholly perfect. The author is also an Astrologer and studied in esoterica but she does not divert into discussion of those other disciplines. This is pure Tarot, backed by scholarly research and 30 years of many thousands of clients. Each card is brought to life with real examples and a touch I love are the Bach Flower Remedy suggestions. It is over 400 pages and written with sympathy and cheer. I loved it and it and so did my Spirit! ;D The main selling point of this System, aside from the uniqueness of the Vedic elemental philosophy and numerological structure, is the very fact that the core structure of Tarot, the numbers 0 to 9 and their resonance with essential nature and the 5 elements, is explained... More > and seen to logically come through the Major Arcana cards. The numbers of 10 to 21 and the Minor cards logically progress from there. Really, this is the truth of symbolical expression of basic mathematics, the natural numbers 0 to 21. I gained much confidence from this book and I feel any student of Tarot can learn a lot, ... a real fundamental comprehension of the whole Tarot so the rationalizing left-brain can actually predict the meaning of cards from the inside! Of course every card depends on it's context... it's all relative, folks. So... not just a "this card means that" recipe book, indeed an organic overview and deep delve into the structure so you can KNOW Tarot. As for reading the cards well... that just takes practice and faith! ;D< Less
"A well written, well-educated work" Toni Allen obviously knows her stuff. Her handling of the subject matter is erudite and well-educated. The System of Symbols is an entertaining read. I enjoyed it a lot.
A good book for anyone wishing to study Tarot. Actually, the best book on Tarot I have seen since Crowley's The Book of Toth. Toni gives the history, depth and meaning to each card, and explains the interactions (often subtle) between the cards.
"Top of the Class" I only had to read a couple of paragraphs of Toni Allen's amazing book to know that it was well worth buying. The Tarot is demystified and systematically explained from the basic fundamentals up. Don't forget every card is Infinite! So while she does ascribe different meaning for each Arcanum, with handy keywords for the beginner, the permutations readily become apparent. Two and three cards and used from real life examples to illustrate apllications but the real wisdom comes from the structure she spells out so plainly. I could go on for pages on the other many excellent comments and features she makes but short is sweet! The book is an absolute joy and the first and hopefully the last you'd need to buy on The Royal Path. The ratings of a mere two thumbs, tellingly with no qualifying reviews, must surely be suspect. Browse the text if you doubt this tome's greatness!
