“My Beautiful Leah through the eyes of an Eagle” is a journey of self awareness, renewal and inner strength. The central character Leah; rises above her everyday existence and time spent with her ailing father at his convalescent home, by learning to accept herself as she is, thereby beginning her transformation of self revelation and inner peace. The eagle represents the knowledgeable, calm voice of wisdom which provides comfort and security which is instrumental in the magical turnaround in Leah’s life and her interaction with the other characters in the book. With the self awakening and clarity comes the reconciliation with her past and present be it with the spirit of her birth father, her adoptive father who acknowledges his love and gratitude before his death, her relationship with her abrupt and dismissive brother Brian, the camaraderie and companionship with friends especially Maggie, and her love for Nick leading to her ability to face the future with hope as a much stronger,... More > happier and free individual. Toni captures the true essence of the NSW Central Coast with the spectacular beauty and fury of the ocean, the friendly, relaxed and coastal community feel of the environment and its habitants. The natural and unique beauty of Australia is further highlighted through Leah’s developing friendship with Nick a visiting American and their personal experiences be it bushwalks, visits to tourist and vacation hotspots including interaction with locals both in Sydney, NSW Central Coast, Victoria and Brisbane as well as cafes and restaurants. The appeal of “My Beautiful Leah” lies in its easy pace, its sense of Auzzieness from the lingo and mannerisms of the characters in contrast to Nick the American, and the eagle as the guiding and spiritual voice of affirmation for the attainment of happiness, joy and freedom. “My Beautiful Leah” has powerful messages regarding victory in all aspects of life by overcoming fear and imperfections and learning to live life to the fullest.
