This book is a fascinating metaphor for life. It is one of those clever books that teach chcildren a lesson while also speaking to adults - perhaps at a deeper level. Worthy of a re-read, I highly recommend this book!

"Semaine" is one of those "I just can't put it down" books. It is a compelling story which carries clear and concise messages for readers of all ages, and has been written in a style which makes it easy to absorb the many "life messages" contained in its pages. It provoked in this reader an awakening of the senses, and the more I read, the easier it became to identify with the characters. Tony, you have excelled yourself, and you should be mighty proud of your effort. Bill Fuller Melbourne, Australia.

Clever premise drives a modern morality tale ‘Semaine’ by Tony Henderson-Newport creates a really interesting premise. Namely that a chameleon becomes incorporated into a human body, and as well as being privy to that person’s thoughts, is also able to contribute its own viewpoint to their mind. Henderson-Newport pulls off this chimera surprisingly well. He uses this device (if that’s the right term) to explore issues around ecology, sustainability, man’s attitude to nature, and the importance of family. Set in Spain, the 129 page paperback subtly reminds us that habitat destruction continues even in progressive western economies. It is a modern morality tale. The book’s dramatic tension is well-executed. Semaine wants to go back to his own family, but can feel his own ability to escape the body he’s trapped in is fading. How he goes about returning to the forest from which he came and to the exact spot he became incorporated into the the human body is nicely unresolved until right... More > near the finish. This is a well-written book that keeps you questioning ‘what will happen next’. It makes you wish you were clever enough to come up with the premise yourself.< Less
