I was looking at a picture of a globe that showed a beam of light coming from everywhere that there was an internet connection. The most sparse places were Siberia and Africa. Excpt for a few places on the coast, inner Africa was desolate. Most of the people are friendly but people rob tourists too. Expect poor roads and poor infrastructures. Beware that there are no ATMs in a number of African countries. You have to either bring cash, traveler's cheques or get the money at banks there. There are lots of civil wars and rebellions in Africa. South Africa has the biggest tourist industry of any country in Africa probably because it's a stable, developed, capitalist country with some white people which white tourists feel more comfortable with rather than being in some place like Lagos where they would know what it feels like to be a minority when there's only one white face in a sea of black ones. Try #916 at the library.
