An excellent and comprehensive biography of the controversial clergyman who transformed Folkestone's ancient Parish Church with extensive restoration, and adorned the interior with Pre Raphaelite paintings and new stained glass windows. A must read for anyone interested in this fishing town that was transformed into a prestigious Victorian resort frequented by the good and great; counting H G Wells, Lord Shaftesbury, Charles Dickens, and George Grossmith, amongst its residents.
