As a naive teenager, Stewart has friends that nearly overdosed on drugs, while attending the California Jam rock concert that accommodated over 300,000 people. Many of Stewart's closest friends from the L.A. days were not so fortunate and have died prematurely from unnatural causes. In 1976, he was nearly killed by serial killer Patrick Wayne Kearney, also known as the Trash Bag Murderer. In 1978, Stewart was shot “Point blank” in the stomach with a .22 caliber Derringer, but survived to write this book.
