Apophenia: A Disjointed Novel As Told By Nancy Briar et al

ByTrevor Gentry-Birnbaum

In early 2006, Nancy Briar, a twenty-four year old native to Long Island, New York killed herself in her small apartment. She left behind a scathing indictment of her ex-lover, a boy only known as "Jack," through various attempts at a first draft of a semi-autobiographical novel and emotionally charged journal entries. Compiled by friend, Trevor Gentry-Birnbaum, the bare bones of her potential story are presented with virtually no changes. The writing is difficult, the characters under-developed and the situation nothing revolutionary, but the simple, unfinished rantings of this young girl perfectly illustrate a universal feeling: loss. The second edition includes footnotes containing newfound information and insight into Nancy's tragic death.
