It's the only one, their ain't no other. I have used IQ for years with very little understanding of what differentiates IQ from ASE and other transactional databases. I was delighted recently to be able to take Sybase's introductory developer course. One of the first things the instructor did was to introduce us to this book. "The Sybase IQ Survival Guide" combines much of the material available in Sybase's own documentation, which while good is somewhat scattered and not always clear. Trevor Moore integrates the documentation into a reasonably coherent whole, while presenting lots of original material and experienced and knowledgable commentary. He is not one to pull punches: from the section explaining High Non Group (HNG) Indexes: "First and foremost, do not use this index". Hows that for direct? On the downside, the self-published nature of this book is clear in its lack of basic editing. Little things like confusing "their" and "there",... More > "its" and "it's", etc. don't change the content of the book but make it less pleasant for me to read. That said, I am finding this book essential in approaching IQ in real-world applications without a great deal of knowledge. I highly recommend it to anyone in a similar position.< Less
