Just Emily

Widowed Emily Greer lives with her unmarried daughter Kara on the outskirts of Glenwood, a fictitious small southern city. As Liz Davis, Emily’s best friend will tell you, “Emily is, I guess, like most of us, but things keep happening to her…oh, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing earth-shaking, but….perhaps it’s the way she relates and responds and copes,” and then Liz adds with a disarming smile, “Perhaps it’s in the telling.” From a “blue” April morning, the story runs through roughly five years of Emily’s life, its interwoven strands reflecting thoughts and feelings underscored by a sense of Christian values. As Liz would tell you, “You’ll just have to get to know Emily because… she’s just Emily.” Ursula Thacker is a homemaker and free-lance writer.
