Price: $4.99
Historically Nuu-chah-nulth people on Vancouver Island’s west coast used steam pits to cook a variety of foods for feasts and families. In this new instructional booklet, (part of a series about traditional foods) learn about the foods traditionally cooked in a steam pit, along with step-by-step instructions on preparing and using your own pit. The booklet also includes learning activities for communities, families, and classrooms interested in trying out this unique form of cooking. The Nuu-chah-nulth Traditional Foods Toolkit promotes the wisdom of Nuu-chah-nulth elders by recording and sharing their experiences, language, and knowledge regarding traditional foods. The information in these booklets promotes food sovereignty and security, encouraging healthy, sustainable communities for current and future generations. Proceeds from the sale of this booklet go towards education and training programs for children and others in Nuu-chah-nulth communities.
