I read "Paint the Sky Purple" by Vanessa Womack. This book had me on edge wondering what in the world will happen next with this dynamic character. As a girl my daydream was to travel to the big city to explore and enjoy. the book was a easy and enjoyable read. Loved the length of the chapters. Valerie's relationships took me on a roller coaster as I wondered who she would end up with. I struggled through the back ground peices of the end laws but enjoyed the entire ride. The end will surprise. I wanted one more chapter!!! More Please:)

Paint the Sky Purple describes the main character's, Valerie Warren, wonderful journey through life. The novel gives us insight about her life as a child, and how her life unfolds throughout adulthood up to her resting day. Perhaps her childhood experiences with her two sisters, Phyllis and Gennetta, led her to put up with men that weren't suitable for her. At times, I thought she suffered from insecurity related to men, and masked it with her desire and potential to succeed in her career. Then again, what a woman! Highly successful, and truly dedicated to her family. I admire her for her dedication, commitment and lack of selfishness. I truly enjoyed the ethnic diversity Valerie embraced from childhood until her death. Loved Nelda & Jackie! And, Sean, what a character! Truly cosmopolitan! Valerie found her true love with a White man. Too sad that she could not step up and face her parents regarding her true love, but then again why do so if Bill wasn't committed. The story moves... More > fastly with short chapters. Lot of interaction from the characters, narrated mostly from the 1st person. At times it switches to a 3rd person narrator. Make sure you read it and find out what it means to Paint the Sky Purple.< Less
