I wish no stars was an option. I am a writer who has studied various forms of literature extensively during my university education. Ever since childhood, my favorite book has always been Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I collect art, memorabilia and literature related to/inspired by Lewis Carroll's Wonderland stories. When I saw this, I was quite excited to get my hands on it. Until it arrived. Some of the art was spectacular. Some of it...not so much. There were a few pieces that I could not even figure out how they fit into the theme of Wonderland (Note: Far too much Manga-style art. Strike a balance and appeal to more than the anime/manga fanbase). At first I was pleased to see that quotes from the original stories were spread throughout the book. Again, until I looked closer. Some of the quotes were in fact from the original works but amongst those were these: 1. "You would have to be half mad to dream me up." -Tim Burton's travesty of a movie 2. "If you don't... More > know where you are going, any road can take you there." -not a quote from the books but a poor paraphrasing of dialogue between Alice and the Cheshire Cat 3. "If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense." -Disney animated feature 4. "It is better to be feared than loved." -Burton's movie 5. "Alice came to a fork in the road. 'Which road do I take?' she asked. 'Where do you want to go?' responded the Cheshire Cat. 'I don't know,' Alice answered. 'Then,' said the Cat, it doesn't matter." -I have no idea where this came from but it is not Carroll's work. 6. "You used to me much more "muchier." You've lost your muchness." -Tim Burton's movie. 7. "If you don't know where you are going any road can take you there." -second usage of this quote that is just someone's paraphrasing of dialogue between Alice and the Cheshire Cat. 8. "Have I gone mad? Im afraid so, but let me tell you something, the best people usualy are." -another quote from Burton's movie What's wrong with these quotes you may ask? They were all credited as such: "Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland." That is incorrect in so many ways. Some quotes from Through the Looking Glass were included but still credited in the aforementioned fashion, that is to say, incorrectly. On top of all of that, the book is called "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Plus spelling and grammar errors. This book is an exercise in laziness. Oh and 0 stars to Lulu customer service, too, as I'm still disputing this purchase.< Less
