Oct 15, 2013This is the perfect way to get through that wait at the doctor's office, or the queue at the post office. Cathy Hendrix's story does what we all wish we could at one time or another, while Nancy Boyce offers a heartfelt snapshot of that passage of time. A great read.
Oct 11, 2013These tapas, bite-sized pieces of literature, are a pleasure to read. Each is brief to consume, but the taste lingers on in the tongue's memory. "Planned Obsolescence" by Cassie McDaniel - my favourite poem on web bits and bytes - is a tart spicy savoury. "Planting Flowers" by Celynne Grewe-Hinzmann is sharply sour with a surprising light note at the end. "Speak Softly" by Cathy Hendrix is a bitter pickle that is a delight at the finish. Just reading these pieces through again has lured me to these over-the-top metaphors. I recommend that you get the book, and so you can repeatedly savour all the stories and poems.
Oct 11, 2013Nancy Kay Clark sifts through reams of poetry and prose to bring you the best for your commute. Her website www.commuterlit.com has attracted many many dedicated readers and writers. Now, the easily accessed pleasure on mobile devices can be hand held in the old fashioned way and enjoyed in that manner. The compilation called Commuterlit Selections keeps to the weekly consistency offered by the website as one might expect. What isn't expected is the opening page for each week with its quotes from personalities as diverse as Dale Evans and Tolstoy. Unexpected, yes, but where Nancy Kay Clark is concerned a reader quickly learns to expect the unexpected and is deeply rewarded for it. Get this hand held version of the online site. Make the online site your "go to" for those times during the commute when your head needs an interesting escape. You will find no better anywhere. Go to www.commuterlit.com and click on "Get the Book." It's that simple.
Oct 8, 2013I received my copy today, and I am impressed— lovely design and excellent typography. It is one of the better looking anthologies I've seen. It also includes selections from two of my favorite poets on CommuterLit: Cassie McDaniel and Elizabeth Barnes.
Oct 7, 2013I'm enjoying my copy of this short story anthology. It has such a great variety of stories and poems. I'm a regular reader of CommuterLit.com and was thrilled to see some of my favourite authors such as Brad Gischia and Frank T. Sikora. I love anything that they write. One of my favourite stories from CommuterLit has been included, Soldier's Last Wish, by Phyllis Humby. I'm looking forward to rereading the stories that I love and reading some that I've missed. What a great gift for my friends that like short stories.
