A book of poetry written in the aftermath of the author's excommunication from the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints. His transgression? The establishment of a perfectly lawful and celibate, UK Civil Partnership (a same-sex union, but NOT a same-sex marriage). To contrast with the "high" induced by early missionary visits, the poems he wrote in 1992 are also included. The contrast shows delusion and brainwashing and then awakening and honesty. The book is certainly in the nature of a cathartic necessary to survival of withdrawal from a cult. But it is forceful and unapologetic and fiercely indignant at the behaviour of a Church which professes Christian love, but is unmoved by tragedies caused by bigotry and prejudice. Such bitterness as there may be is now external to the author for whom a new life beckons at the age of 66. The power in the poems themselves is manifest.
