"IN FLIGHT". VERONICA SULLA translated by ALEXANDRA ALDRIDGE. "VERONICA SULLA... spent her childhood between Prague, Budapest and a remote town near the Carpathian mountains. All this, combined with mixed Eastern European heritage, led to a feeling of internal exile learned at an early age... For my part, I took a doctorate in Comparative Literature at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and taught in several major US universities. More recently, I met Veronica Sulla in Prague and asked to see her writing. So she began to read to me, in rough translation, from the Russian. Immediately, I saw brilliance and originality. But I also saw something else. It seemed to come from nowhere, this ability to transcribe a deeply felt emotion or keen observation into a perfectly matched, often stunning image. Clearly the sign of a major talent". - ALEXANDRA ALDRIDGE
