This is a story of well-loved dog who gave every bit of that love right back (many times over)...a little creature who left an indelible mark in the hearts of his human family. Huey's lasting impact on those who loved him best, especially the author, is very evident throughout this fast-paced book that traces an all too short life of a pet his owners truly considered a gift from God. Pet owners who have formed a loving bond with and then had to say good-bye to a special furry friend will experience vicariously the acute pain of loss but also understand how much thinking on the unforgettable memories of the times spent with a loyal and faithful little dog can bring much comfort and even help begin the process of healing.

My heart was touched by the love shown for little Huey in this book. Having known Huey made it all the more special. The author gives a clear heartfelt picture of what it was like having such a presious pet. The pictures are a wonderful addition. Each showing some aspect of little Hueys life that will make you laugh and enjoy the antics of Huey's sweet personality. I love the ones of him in the stroller especially. What a wonderful tribute for a much loved furry friend. This is a must read!

If you have ever lost a 'heart'-pet, this book will reverberate with you. It is written in a stream-of-consciousness, conversational style, as if you are in the presence of the author and she is telling you the story face to face. The author's feelings of helplessness to change the outcome, the difficult hours of Huey's last days, and the resulting grief and loss, come through clearly, and then are softened by the description of happy memories and unforgettably 'cute' anecdotes of how this little dog became an integral part of his humans' daily lives and left indelible paw-prints on their hearts. This book is not as 'polished' as one done by a professional writer, but that very quality makes it more believable and helps the reader connect with the gentle spirit and loving heart of the author. Overall, it is a lovely, lasting tribute to a special little dog.

This story is a touching love story of a very special pom and his adoring human mom. It will make you cry and make you smile. The pictures capture how sweet Huey was and how much his family, especially his mom, loved him. The story makes you realize how much of a blessing pets can be.
