Life sucked pretty hard for me in my mid-twenties. My mom was a total cow (in appearance and in attitude). She stayed home on disability while I worked my ass off at the museum. I did so well in school and wanted to make something of myself,
but being a piss-poor black girl in Chicago meant I didn’t exactly have a flood of opportunities. I loved my boyfriend but he had a temper and an eye that liked to wander. At the time I couldn’t see myself with any other man, until he came along.
Rook showed me who I really was. He took me places of which I could never have dreamed. Sure lies, betrayal, murder, and lost time were involved. But there was also sex, traveling, money, and the adventure of this lifetime.
I’d tell you more but I don’t wanna spoil anything.
