This elegantly crafted and truly inspiring book encapsulates the rare and profound wisdom of the writer as well as the sagacity of many great philosophers. Wahab 'Dele Owolawi’s (author) personal philosophy is predicated on humility, self awareness, respect and service to others. The publication of a text that embodies this spirit is both relevant and timely given the pervasive inter-sectoral and inter-religious hostilities, and widespread crime, violence and corruption that characterize so many countries at this juncture in our history. Congratulations on a superb achievement!

I strongly believe in the power of this book to change minds and direct us back to the right path; particularly, for those who genuinely and truthfully seek for self-enlightenment but more importantly for those who hold a significant stake in directing the affairs of our daily mundane life such as political/opinion leaders, religious teachers and of course parents. In general, this book is a must read for everyone that share in the conviction of a need for an elevated state of human consciousness.

The book 'A Dialogue in the City of Niyod' gives the reader a clear picture of what an ideal state should resemble. In an allegorical setting in which an inquisitive, learned traveller called Operosus debriefs the leaders of Niyod about the ethos of their city and its denizens, a picture is painted of the principles of life in an ideal city, and by unsubtle implication, how far our world is from this ideal. The simplicity and power of the conclusions within it, make the book a compelling read for all stakeholders of civilized society.

The book reminds me of Voltaire’s Candide. It draws attention to the econo-socio-political climate of modern states. Many states, nations, individuals, especially, leaders of thoughts in religion and politics will have one or two things to learn from it. Perhaps, humanity’s greatest self-inflicted limitation is bigotry in all its ramifications, especially, religious. The book elicits from within a calm and humble acceptance of ignorance and the relative low level of consciousness, which produced our current state of affairs. The book is a satire, so strong, yet lacking in the usual vitriolic style of many authors. There are neither blames nor finger-pointing. There is an underlying echo of ‘judge not for you shall not be judged’ and seek first to find out why others behave and think differently from you. Thus, Operosus gives the impression of a genuine seeker. I must confess that in some instances, I find the humility in Operosus’ style of framing and posing his questions a trifle... More > affected. I think that the author does not need to provide answers for rhetorical questions. These are meant to make the reader think. There is need also to run a fine comb through the work so that there would be consistency in the following areas: a) Conscious effort should be made to sustain right through, the sublime ideas so that those, which represent the status quo do not sip through. b) There were instances when dialogues would run one into the other and the reader is left wondering who is speaking and has to go back and forth to follow the thread. In sum, the book has literary value and could be a excellent handbook in the training of leaders and persons, who are interested in spiritual matters – self enlightenment. I also feel that it has a place on the reading list of high schools. It is a book of hope and it holds forth the guidepost for the realisation of our collective dream of a better society. If the 20 points enumerated by Ohini become a way of life for everyone, then humanity can hope, after all, for the manifestation of El Dorado here on Earth.< Less
