One method adopted to combat the problem came from the United States. History would later show that following America's example in certain ways was not always a good thing. The situation of getting fat was already a problem in the USA and, like their Trans-Atlantic contemporaries, Britons were to realize that being a little overweight would turn out to be what sounds like the sharp end of a type of lettuce.
