Walt Cross served on active duty for twenty plus years from 1967 to 1988 and then in the retired reserve until 1998. His father, Corporal Earl L. Cross served in WWII as an armored cavalryman. Walt was born at Fort Hood, Texas in 1949.
Walt’s first assignment was as a field medic working with the airborne and ranger training commands. His last assignment was as an Active Guard Reserve (AGR) master sergeant on active duty as the operations NCO of the 3rd Brigade, 95th Division (Training) of the U.S. Army Reserve.
Between those assignments he saw combat with the First Infantry Division, law enforcement overseas with the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), duty with the U.S. Army recruiting command, and the 95th Division as a full time Active Guard Reserve soldier.
This is his and his family’s story, a story that any
Veteran will identify with and any reader easily understand.
