In the beginning of September 1944 American troops were entering Dutch territory, the beginning of the liberation for the people of Holland. The following story tries to give a picture of just the one day on which in the town of Heerlen the Germans were ousted. The impact on the inhabitants of such a momentous change in their lives is even more powerful because of the personalities of the American soldiers who are representatives of a different culture in which other values are living forces. The effect is of a great wind blowing trough the restricted area of the occupation.
