"What a Haul'o'Booty!" Wil Wheaton __is__ a writer. I know that in this world of celebrity it is easier to say Wil Wheaton is "that guy from Stand By Me" or "you know, Wesley Crusher" but as this, his fourth book, so deftly proves he __is__ a writer. This small, yet perfectly formed treasury of gems from an Acme Script to a TV Squad review of 'DataLore' to a bunch of childhood memories and family moments (particularly the incredibly warm and touching 'See a Little Light') Wil once again proves his mettle as truly gifted writer of narrative non-fiction. I have had this book three days, I have already read it twice; I cannot possibly convey to you how much you need this book in your life, and I am confident that if you take my advice that it will not be long before you have his other books and are regularly reading his excellent blog at http://wilwheaton.typepad.com . Bravo Mr. Wheaton, another joyful contribution to the written record of our race; bravo... More > indeed! (*****)< Less

"Treasure Unearthed.." First, a confession. When I first started reading Wil's blog, years back.. I seriously clicked on it because I was nostalgic about Star Trek and interested in "Wesley Crusher - where is he now?". How shamed I am now at that initial impulse, but also grateful - because without it I would never have discovered one of my favourite writers. Wil is "just a geek" by his own admission - he's one of US. He knows what it's like to be so stupefied by admiration that you can't string three intelligible words together to one of your heroes - I fear that's exactly how I'd be if he and I ever crossed paths. Sunken Treasure is pure Wil Wheaton brilliance - his anecdotes shine with personality, and he has a gift for bringing memories to life - and what memories they are. No writer has the ability to bring tears to my eyes as often as Wil - whether it be sharing that glow in the heart of the joys of parenthood, geeks raising geeks... or his... More > stories about the era in which I, too, grew up.. when you read Wil's stories - you are *there*. It's a mainline to emotion and a nostalgic feast - one to savour. Add to this some fascinating behind-the-scenes stories and insider info delivered with humour and wit, and you have one awesome package. I would happily have paid the paltry amount asked for any one of these stories - to be able to enjoy them all is unearthing a treasure indeed. (*****)< Less
