"The Hyborian Heresies" Author Dale E. Rippke's work, "The Hyborian Heresies," scales new heights for scholarly research into the world of Hyboria, establishing himself as THE preemminent authority on Robert E. Howard's fictional world. The essays contained in this book are priceless gems of research into a fictional world that serves as the backdrop for none other than the legendary Conan the barbarian. This book is not just a gold mine - this is the mother lode of all books on Hyboria! This is no pastiche, but rather, a decidedly authoritative exploration that brings the history of Hyboria to life in a way that no other author has. No true fan of Conan or Hyboria can afford to not add this priceless treasure to their personal collection. A gargantuan effort that knows no peer, greatly enlightening. This is not so much a book as it is a sound investment. "The Hyborian Heresies" is a true milestone in Hyborian literary achievement, a marvelous... More > escapade through the history of a world that rivals J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. This is a true classic in every sense of the word, containing a king's ransom in information on Hyboria. From the Great Cataclysm to the Giant-Kings, Dale's unbridled penchant for details shines through, poking you right in the eye with the sharp stick of knowledge, as he lays it all out before you page after page after page. Hither came Dale Rippke, and he delivers on every page. Hats off to Ron Hanna and Wildcat Books for publishing this staggering find of a book.< Less

"The Hyborian Heresies" A very worthwhile addition to the library of any fan of Conan as Robert E. Howard imagined him, and also of value to fans of Kull. The author does a good job of sorting through Howard's writings and separating them for the additions and changes the canon has acquired over the last 70 odd years. My only quibble is that, in my opinion, on a couple of points things get overthought - sometimes a cigar just might be a cigar. But this doesn't detract from the value of the book at all - at last these points have been brought forward for discussion.
