This book worked on several levels for me: It was an enjoyable read--almost cinematic--full of interesting characters and plot twists that kept me turning pages to see what would happen next. I also found it to be a fascinating exploration of trauma and the many ways in which people cope with a world they don't completely comprehend. While most of the experiences portrayed probably wouldn't mirror those of the average reader, the humanity of underdog Eddie made him someone we could understand, perhaps even relate to a little. And it's all done with a sense of humor! Well done!
If you've read any of "Will the Thrill"s other masterpieces, you'll be on familiar ground with this mind-twisting powerhouse. The style is more intellectual than visceral, but there's plenty of sex, and a pile of plot-twists that will keep you guessing. It's a voyeuristic look into the mind of a mad jazz musician, and you never know where it will go next. Another page-turner from the master of modern retro fiction, Will Viharo.
This is great book on so many different levels. Viharo really maintains the literary themes, dimensions, and stylings of a great novel while at the same time weaving in the "pulp". A well balanced mix of dialogue (and that's not easy to do), violence, sex, and humor. This is truly a work of literary and pulp art!
