Things that I learned about THOMAS JEFFERSON reading this very early critical biography of our most eccentric and brilliant president. T.J. did it his way and based on his impact on history (both positive and negative) the man was in the crucible and forged our unique experiment in grabbing the elusive liberty and still have a civil society. Published in 1901 (the hundredth anniversary of Jefferson becoming president) this very uneven biography has lots of very unique information on Tom Jefferson the man. For instance this book alleges that Jefferson was a very callous young man (in his early 20s) and was only courting the rich widow Jefferson on a bet with his friends to see who bagged the trophy. The story of Jefferson winning out on his 2 competitors when playing the violin and winning the widow Jefferson now has a new cynical slant but I wasn't there and neither were the gossipy great granddaughters spreading this tale.
