Jul 31, 2013"Best Foot Forward" is easy and pleasant to read. Glenn explains and supports the multifaceted content through extensive research, reason and common sense. It is full of practical ideas for everyone but especially for young students as they progress through life and their academic careers. Most importantly, he emphasizes "self" and "self-worth" and doing the right thing. Nothing is impossible with hard work and staying out of trouble. The individual is an integral part of the whole. Glenn discusses important issues and how we are all effected by them. Life is about choices and striving to make good ones will affect positive change. A "must read" as a learning tool. It should be required reading from the sixth grade on and reread every year.
Apr 27, 2013Being a martial Artist, dealing with teens on a daily basis, I realize what an affect discipline can have; the kind of mind, body, and spirit understanding provided in Best Foot Forward. We all know the teen years are some of, if not, the most difficult and awkward. I wish I read a book like this! Or at least one of my teachers. A perfect read if you are a parent yourself and want to bestow this knowledge with you kids, even better if you're a teacher with benevolent agenda like Mr. Nicholson JR. Either way, Best Foot Forward has a powerful message more need to hear..TLC to the teenage soul.
Apr 23, 2013Glenn is a very kind and caring individual. I expect that this book will be full of helpful, insightful information and I look forward to reading it and sharing it with my teenage girls. It takes an insightful, caring person to write a reflective and effective book. I would recommend this read based on Glenn's personality alone.
Apr 17, 2013Best Foot Forward is a powerful, inspirational book meant to provide adolescents with essential information to enable them to make positive life decisions. As a dental student pursing my professional degree, I highly recommend this book. With proper knowledge, people can achieve the goals they set. Best Foot Forward teaches you how to become aware of your surroundings, study more effectively, reduce stress, and manage with daily tasks, among other materials . Overall, this book has numerous examples and statistics to help you understand and live a more productive life. Ultimately, it can lead you to the road to success, and that does not have a price tag.
Apr 5, 2012An excellent book of wisdom, when practiced will guarrantee success into all your goals. The book is well designed, easy to read, relatable examples create concrete understanding. This book is a must for parents, school age kids and adolescents. This would be a great manual for workstudy groups.
Mar 25, 2012This book is written to be read BY a young person. It addresses all the facets which create a successful student: physical health, brain & memory research, the importance of building a social support system, analysis of teacher expectations, study skills, etc. Many of these concepts sound obvious but one would be surprised that if these concepts are not specifically & deliberately pointed out to young people with minimal words, they usually just become "white noise." Glenn has succeeded in addressing these things using language and length that is appealing to young people. A student could actually choose to read this book, picking it up to peruse for different things at different times. It would also be a terrific resource for conducting workshops or classes for the "building" of a successful & healthy student, particularly those young people transitioning into their independent adult lives.
Feb 23, 2012i think that this book is going to be very successful, its a very critical topic and teenagers need guidance, motivation. This book is very helpful for both parents and teenagers. Good Luck :)
Dec 7, 2011Glenn Nicholson’s Best Foot Forward is a handbook for today’s teenagers and young adults. The book, a wonderful resource whether used in the classroom or independently in the home, focuses on three specific areas: academics, health, and mental wellness. Nicholson offers more than just an uplifting message in his book, but at no time does he come off as preachy. Broken down into easily digestible bits, Best Foot Forward is unlike other books on similar topics in that the author provides appropriate strategies for introspection and betterment, while also guiding readers forward. Growing up is difficult. While there are still experiences that are shared by all, each generation faces a new set of challenges placed upon them. For many, the path to adulthood is a journey that is long, winding, and sometimes dark. With Best Foot Forward, by Glenn Nicholson, such a journey no longer has to be in the dark, nor does it have to be alone.
