The Mutant Epoch is about humankind’s attempt to reclaim some semblance of civilization, calling upon its best and boldest to uncover the lost knowledge and power of the old ones. This post-apocalyptic RPG challenges your in-game persona to survive in an age of rediscovery, adventure, savage conflict, and freakish mutants and machines. Player characters make forays into ruined cities, through junk strewn wastelands, twisted forests, and across polluted seas. During their expeditions they must contend with mutant beasts, the environment, as well as raiders, cultists, and robotic forces, only to stake their place in the emerging barter forts and factional bastions of humanity. Players can take on the roles of pure stocks, mutants, cyborgs, beastial humans and synthetic humans. All you need is this book, dice, paper and pencils, a few friends and your imagination. The Mutant Epoch™ uses the Outland System™ game mechanic, which employs the full set of polyhedron dice, is... More > easy to learn, logical and fast paced.< Less

This is probably the most complete simple to use post-apocalyptic mutant RPG currently on the market. The mutations, powers, and cyborg implants were fun to read and each one useful in their own way. I actually like the random character generation because it will challenge players with mutations or character backgrounds they probably wouldn't choose otherwise. I imagine most would just try to create the biggest and the baddest without giving anything else much thought. I never knew their could be so many different types of mutants. I think that the most subtle mutants can be just as deadly as the horrible monsters. The rules-system is a fluid D100 percentile system which is one of my personal favorite dice mechanics. It does use a chart for hazard checks and I think it would be a good idea for players to each have a copy of the chart themselves to speed the process up. Overall I like it though. The writing and art are all excellent and this has given me so many ideas. I also really... More > enjoyed reading the creatures section. I can tell that Mr. William McAusland had a lot of making this game and it will be a lot of fun to play as well. If you like sci-fi I highly recommend this game.< Less
Awesome setting, wonderful artwork, and a great rules set! I bought TME here in early June of this year and have been reading a little bit each night. This book is so descriptive and just oozes with setting--- without being hard to read. I grew up playing Aftermath! and then moved to Gamma World (in between all the D&D) before taking a break from gaming in my 20's & 30's. Now that I'm married and have a toddler I felt the lure of my gaming bug pull me in full force. I started off by re-reading my PA novels-- The Survivalist series; The Axler series Deathlands; A Canticle for Leibowitz; the new Hunger Games series(borrowed from my wife), etc. I was looking for a new PA RPG to sate my desire to game when I stumbled onto The Mutant Epoch through a gaming blog (sorry, i forget which one.) That lead me to the TME website... From the moment I looked at the Outland Arts website I was hooked. The artwork alone drew me in and wouldn't let go. I bought the book moments later here at... More > Lulu and couldn't be happier. I really love the setting. The ruleset is easy to pick up on but also has a realism to it without being super crunchy. The layout is wonderful and looks extremely professional---kudos to the gang who worked on the book. You can tell you put your heart into it. If you're a Post-Apoc fan you'll love The Mutant Epoch. Give it a try! ~John< Less
