    If you're anything like me, you'll find that the chapters on “Initiating Contact” and “Spilling the Client’s guts” are just what you need to get your consulting business off and running. Not only were the techniques presented in this book extremely helpful, it also really reinforced for me the need to get off the email and get in front of some prospective clients!

    Without doubt the best book I have found on the subject of working at home is “Freelancing – The First 30 Days” By William N. Coan and James K. Coan. It supplied me with the how-to’s when I wanted to begin tech writing from home.

You won't find any space devoted to picking out office furniture, setting up your accounting system, or choosing office space - just the funadamental principles you'll need to successfully find clients, win assignments, and generate a profit in your first 30 days. The fundamentals are the same no matter what profession you're in - management consulting, accounting, writing, photography, administrative support. You'll find everything you need here. I wish I'd had a copy of this book when I first struck out on my own as a management consultant.
