Michael Patterson was born into your average, middle-class, nuclear family. They lived in desirable area of Long Island, New York, seemingly a world away from the gangs and crime of the inner-city. His parents loved and supported him and there was never any physical abuse in the household. But it is here, beneath the Brady Bunch-like façade of suburbia that lays the true ground zero of the never-ending, pandemic known as drugs. Now age 24, Mike is being released from prison, where he spent the past five years on drug-related charges. He is now ready to put the past behind him and start anew. However serious Mike is though, he will find out that the ghosts of the past are not so easily relinquished and that some things cannot be atoned.

Finally, someone gets it completely right. Suburbia and drugs go hand and hand. I appreciate this book. More people need to know all aspects of the Brady Bunch-like artificial, deceptive front of suburbia. Very realitic as if you were right there. A most read.

"Great book!" This book is as close to reality as you will get. Anyone who has suffered from addiction or has a loved one suffering from addiction should read this book.

"Powerfully moving story!" A must read for anyone who cares for someone who has, or may have, a drug or alcohlol dependency, including themselves. This is a story that plays out every day throughout many towns and cities across this country. It is a story often kept secret with only little snippits of details getting out. People are either affraid to tell, unwilling to admit, or don't know where to turn. W.P. tells more than a story. He opens the eyes of those that are too afraid to see, he examines choices that take courage to make, and provides avenues of opportunty for those who care.
