Artist Biography
Matthew B. P. Chambers was born and raised in Winesburg, Ohio and spent his childhood summers in nearby Mayberry. At the age of 5 he began playing music and after hearing a Thelonious Monk recording years later, started learning the language of Jazz. As his twin brother entered university to study art history, Mr. Chambers vicariously learned of the plastic visual arts and developed an eye for all things visual. After being hired by an art museum in the Midwest, he has been exposed daily, and for years on end to many masterworks and recently began creating his own art. Many 20th century artists have influenced his work. Mr. Chambers is of the opinion that in order to render something genuine and true, an element of poetry must be present.
