UCLA Women's Law Journal (21.1) 2014
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Issue 21.1. of the UCLA Women's Law Journal seeks to push the boundaries of contemporary thought regarding the issues of race, gender, and intersectionality. The issue features a timely article by Teresa M. Bruce, discussing violence towards and the subjugation of women and men of color in light of the tragic events surrounding the death of Trayvon Martin, even more relevant now in light of the police violence and recent death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. In addition, Abraham Z. Melamed provides an article arguing for the expansion of paternity leave, by means of questioning the gender stereotypes employed by the government in legislation regulating paid leave and the family. Melamed argues these stereotypes harm not only
men, but also women, children, and the possibility of allowing different leave options for different types of family forms.
