Stroll from a butcher's shop in Spain to a tea-stall in Bangladesh; taste nsima, the staple Malawian dish, or futuristic olive substitutes from another planet; meet Mrs Garcia who sells the tastiest tomatoes in the south of France; discover bhelpuri from India and vincisgrassi from Italy...this beautifully illustrated collection of fiction, non-fiction and recipes is a true feast which has something for everyone.
I loved this book, something to dip into when the mood takes me. Of the stories I've read so far my favourites are 'Arabian Nights', 'Tabetha' and 'Senses and Spices'. I'm going to order a few as Christmas presents, there's something for everyone in this book - short stories, anecdotal tales and some mouth-watering recipes.
This is fantastic value, full of stories, interesting articles and recipes from around the world, written by writers who have had the experience! Definitely one for the Santa list!
Eclectic and thought-provoking mix of stories and non-fiction articles. I particularly enjoyed the story 'Spitting Feathers.'It made me laugh out loud. Any British expat who has ever longed for a 'proper brew' will identify with this one!
An entertaining and engaging collection of fiction and creative non-fiction by expatriate writers from around the world. Since I love food, the theme of the anthology piqued my interest from the very beginning. The non-fiction pieces in the book were quite informative and the fiction pieces were great reads. Each story is quite short, which made it easy to read it.
