Ino Ni Kanabo: Art of Kakure Ino is by far some of the absolute best work I've seen from Yakusan. I've been a devout follower of his work since 2013, and have had the privilege to see his style evolve. Yakusan's extreme attention to detail shines brightly through every single page. As you dive in and explore, you are welcomed into the colorful world of Kakure Ino. The eye does not go wanting as he utilizes every inch of each page. Yakusan takes the time to extensively explain the references to Japanese history and culture, the meaning of the title, the individual characters and their design. With a huge array of demons, beasts, monsters, and a jade studded club wielding half human, half demon protagonist, Kakure Ino couldn't be more bad ass. I can't wait to see Ino's story unfold. Yakusan didn't just give us a book of artwork, he gave us a solid work of art. 5 stars!

Ino Ni Kanabo: Art of Kakure Ino not only represents the work of a skilled artist (for which there is little comparison), it is also showcases how much of a talented storyteller and creator he is. This may seem like a treasure trove for visual eyecandy, but inside you'll also find a personal insight into Yakusan's creative processes, ranging from character design to the development of the story itself. Specifically on the content, each page is graced by Yakusan's designs (some fully rendered in color), all fruitful sketches and illustrations that show the investigative struggle to sculpt beautiful characters and settings from the rough stone of imagination; additionally, he's generously featured a number of other artists (all as highly talented as he is) who have produced work relating to Kakure Ino. At the beginning of each segment, Yakusan goes into more detail about the development of certain characters, monsters, and the diverse world these characters inhabit, citing his... More > references for inspiration and his love for researching the subject he's trying to share with us. Every aspect of his work holds a story in itself, adding to an already intriguing project and helping others understand the artist's amazing vision. On the quality of the book overall, the printing is fantastic (and considering that Yakusan invested in reviewing SEVERAL TEST COPIES before publishing, I'm not surprised). Drawings are organized in a meaningful way, including several two-page spread comparisons between sketch and final illustration; some drawings take up the full page making for an exciting visual impact. Everything in this book (from drawing to text) was given due respect. As a fellow aspiring artist and storyteller, I couldn't recommend this book enough to other creators. There is more than art to be learned here, and for $40 you're not gonna find many other books that compare to this one in quality and character. I was excited about buying this book from the moment I heard it was coming leaves me twice as excited for the next one. SUPPORT THIS ARTIST, AND DO YOURSELF A FAVOR: BUY THIS BOOK. --MW< Less
