    Over the last year and some I have been reading Peter Mara's poetry as often as he publishes, I try to keep up. I am drawn to his style and vivid writings because they are not "pretty". I feel moved and curious always by his words and subjects, how he strings together melodic phrases with both beauty and ugliness. Refreshing and clearly connected to his work, he is an important contemporary poet.
