There is a delicate power clutching at the skirts of this poetry, a deep awareness of self that is hauntingly familiar and a crushing reminder of the strength, fragility, feminism and humanism, all bundled in the individual essence of its reader. Color Me Pomegranate was, at times, a ceremonious introspection, a day dream, both joyfully curious and deeply spiritual. There were moments of stark clarity, the insatiable itch of possibility, sorrow and regret, and these were the lights reaching into the well of a woman, but, even more so, a clawing metaphorical history of living. There is little softness here, but neither is there insufferable grit. Zayra Yves has discovered the beautiful balance between the two, and offered them in the form of poetic mysticism and myth. In every poem there is a life that sparks with an intense need to breathe. I was happy to have shared in that breath.

I truly love this gifted and lovely human being. Everything she writes (and speaks), her talent and depth, come straight from the surging depths of her heart, the infinite spaces her soul roams through. Her artistry is impressive, enlightening and causes an evolution you might not expect within your self. I cannot recommend her highly enough. This is a human being. This is a woman in the finest sense of the word. This is a poet, a painter, a seductress, a glistening orb of wisdom among us.
