Leaving You Unpainted is the story of love shared through poetry in an unpretentious and unadorned style, yet it is profoundly provocative with its visual sensual feast of beauty, art and love in its myriad of expressions. It is both haunting with sorrow and lyrical with divinity. Once you begin, you will be addicted to the end. It is a must read for those obsessive passionate souls and art lovers who understand that mystery is as much a part of love, as the obvious.

The poetry to be found within these covers does not discriminate over the manner of lover you may be - whether you’re the maker of love wreathed in moonlight that defies the curtain and unlocks the window to let itself in, or the one who erects shoddy shelving but is always at hand with a warm smile and a mug of hot tea for their significant other, or even the one for whom love’s flame danced once and only ephemerally, thereafter leaving its final ember to flicker as a memory in the hearth of the human heart. Nor is this a collection written from female perspective seeking solely to appeal to a sisterhood; its pages do not claim that “Men are from Mars”, rather it is poetry that is accessible to all, as Zayra’s words speak to our humanity - to our capacity and natural yearning to exchange energies and share experiences with others - while erasing the dividing lines and enticing us to forget the myriad terms, conditions and concepts we superimpose upon our relationships and partners... More > all too often, reminding us instead of the value to be found in growing and thriving for every step of the journey, and to retain a sense of its worth, even should a road come to end. I do not use the word “journey” lightly, either, for the reader is transported from the outset on “the gypsy wind”, to come upon “the edge of winter” some time later in “A Sea Flower of Light”, emerging thereafter “from a sovereign rock” in the poem “Lotus Heart”, before “A Series of Sacred Lights” compels the “idea of self” to be scattered “as cubes of hay along a horizon without borders”, to offer just a hint of the expedition within this volume’s covers. A mesmerising read, telling tales of love in all its guises ~ friendship, romance, sensuality, compassion, and more. Enthral your heart with “Leaving You Unpainted” today!< Less
Zayra Yves collection of mesmerizing poetry titled, Leaving You Unpainted, is a book about romance, wisdom, and magical moments that present themselves to all of us, every day. Whether she is reflecting upon the beauty of imperfection, regret, or passion, Zayra's words suggest that we can never do enough to fully appreciate the magic of love, life, and death. This is where Zayra transcends from breathtaking accounts of life, to lessons that we all yearn to embrace. Leaving You Unpainted reaches far deeper than mere expressions of love and life. Her words transform our thoughts directly in to feelings, and the memory of experience. She teaches us that we all share these common feelings and experiences of passion and pain. "Talking It Over Between Scars", may move you to tears; whereas "First Day of Summer" reminds us of all the moments that were exiting and perhaps too dangerous to remember or recite. Zayra's poetry weaves the spiritual and material realms of the human condition felicitously expounding on truth both uniquely and emotionally. She utilizes fresh diction, imagery, and metaphor to affectively translate the devine and the romantic's intricate relationship powerfully. Zayra's poetry is both intoxicating and enlightening, passionate yet very real. She has become my favorite contemporary poet. I'm sure you'll feel the magic of her voice as it breathes from the page and enlivens your spirit to the spectrum of the human experience.
This soulful, gifted writer and artist is a great gift to a world which sometimes seem less innocent and tender that our memories would allow. She invokes those emotions, stirs her alchemy of words, flame and flowers into a simmering brew that sustains and nourishes us all. Although we have not met in person, I have considered her to be a great friend and sister for years. She is one of those souls I shall seek out in Heaven, for coffee and conversation to our hearts' delight. She is not only generous with her art, writing and spoken performances, she is also a guardian of the world's less fortunate - one of those angels whose wings unfurl without being seen - yet, the soft breeze and encompassing warmth is felt and known, like a favorite blanket soothing you into a gentle slumber where dreams may come and dance you into tearful laughter and ancient solace. My admiration for her has no boundaries. - Wanda Lea Brayton, poet
A poetry offering by Zayra Yves can only mean new outpourings of love filtered through star fields, churned hot blue in densely swirled spirals. She reaches out again as a poet laureate of love with an elegantly produced gem of a book. Love divine, love romantic, love found quickly, and lived deeply. A narrow sliver of experience yearned for in lifetimes of desire. These intense poems are no cerebral exercise penned in quiet reflection. The words come hard earned in a stained, dog-eared, under the mattress handbook of love by a poet who lives the love of which she writes. Sometimes sweet, often erotic, always soulful, these poems speak to lovers with hearts split wide open with ecstatic joy, and soul smashing love cries. This is a wondrous work, moist with the sweetness of peaches, and the salty taste of love passions. Kisses come often here, are held deeply, and will be longingly remembered. Zayra’s love may be left unpainted, but it is not without color.
