New Agent Needed

Scott Harper in Scott Harper's Blog
Sunday 01 of February, 2009
Hi all,

Bad news to report, I’m afraid. I no longer have an agent. Long story short, the agent I was working with returned to earlier endeavors and shut down his entire screenwriting/literary division. For the moment, legally, he’s still my agent, though he isn’t working in my interests anymore. As per the terms of our contract, I am unable to sign with a new agent until August, 2009 unless he chooses to void our contract before then.

So, I find myself, once more, in need of an agent. If you are an agent seeking new clients, or know an agent who is, please let me know.

“MoonWraith” TV Series Pilot Available

Scott Harper in Scott Harper's Blog
Sunday 18 of January, 2009
“MoonWraith” TV series pilot and partial series bible available. The following is the concept, as currently written in the series bible:

The series is set in medieval Europe. Centuries prior, vampires were commonplace. Lacking the ability themselves to operate during daylight hours, the vampire lords deemed it necessary for their kind to have access to a pool of loyal, unquestioning servants who were stronger and better able to protect them than humans. The vampire lords created a mystic talisman called the MoonWraith and used it in rituals to transform a select few of their human servants into werewolves. For centuries, werewolves served the vampires. However, over time, the lycanthropic servants began to rebel, eventually overthrowing their vampire masters and killing them all. In the time since, the werewolves, lacking the supervision and control enforced upon them by the vampires, have spread, their numbers growing until eventually a plague of werewolves is sweeping across the continent.

Now, at long last, historians and scholars have learned of the existence of the MoonWraith. What’s more, the general location of the talisman of legend may have been determined. The King has ordered a castle fortress built atop the ancient silver mine deep inside vast woodlands where the MoonWraith is thought to have been hidden away so long ago. Stationed in the castle fortress are the miners who labor day and night in the silver mine, desperately searching for the MoonWraith, metal smiths who work the mined silver into weapons, and soldiers who use these weapons against the hordes of werewolves to protect the people of the castle fortress. The werewolves, led by their alpha male and alpha female, are just as determined that the MoonWraith not be found. The humans seek the MoonWraith in the hopes that the same object which created the werewolves can be used to destroy them; the werewolves seek it to not only keep that from happening, but in the hopes of using it to create more of their own kind.

Spangwobble: R.I.P.

Scott Harper in Scott Harper's Blog
Sunday 18 of January, 2009
Hi, all!

It seems my Spangwobble idea wasn’t a good one. Only three people responded to that post and each put forth a different idea. So, since there wasn’t one favored idea, and since no one seemed to be really interested in the concept, and since I’ve become so busy with other projects, it looks as if Spangwobble, whoever or whatever it might have been, is gone. Rest in peace, Spangwobble.

Agent

Scott Harper in Scott Harper's Blog
Wednesday 26 of November, 2008
Hi, all!

I have great news to share. It’s finally happened. I have an agent! Anyone interested in hiring me for writing projects or setting up a book signing, please contact him. Contractually, I am no longer able to simply send out work or agree to appear at signings or other appearances. That doesn’t mean that I’m no longer accessible to my fans, though! Far from it, in fact. A large part of why I use these blogs is to keep that accessibility and to stay in touch with you all. But, again, anyone wanting me for an appearance or work, please contact my agent, Scotty Rushing, via the URL http://www.shreveportfilms.info/.

Spangwobble

Scott Harper in Scott Harper's Blog
Sunday 19 of October, 2008
Hi, all!

Wondering about the admittedly odd title of this blog post? Me, too. “What?” is the word probably going through your mind right now. Let me explain…

A few days ago, for no readily discernable reason, the word “Spangwobble” abruptly popped into my mind. ( If you’re now wondering if I’m insane, let me assure you that I am - mental instability being a firm prerequisite for being an author and all ) After the word popped into my mind, I began wondering just who Spangwobble is or what a Spangwobble might be. A couple of things occurred to me, but nothing that I got really excited about. As I thought about it, an idea occurred to me - let my fans tell me just who or what Spangwobble is. So, here’s the deal. I’m going to leave this post on several blogs that I use. I want you to tell me what you think Spangwobble should be. Whichever reasonably all-ages idea seems to be the one posed the most by the end of December, 2008, that’s what Spangwobble will become. Then, whenever I’m able to do so between project deadlines ( I’m currently working on the second Wendy Markland novel for Dark Castle Lords Publications ) I’ll write a short story about Spangwobble and post it on the same blogs that this post will be on. I say “reasonably all-ages” because anyone of any age may well stumble upon the story. Besides, my first two novels were aimed at teens/young adults. Which means they’re part of my fan base. A lot of musicians and stand-up comedians get the audience into the act. Consider this an author’s way of doing the same. So, again I ask you, just who or what is Spangwobble?

“Dart” Submitted

Scott Harper in Scott Harper's Blog
Wednesday 01 of October, 2008
Everyone, please wish me luck on this one. I responded to an add by a production company who is seeking feature-length, action/adventure scripts set in modern USA. I sent them the logline for “Dart” and my writing credentials. Not long after, they wrote back, asking to see the script. So, fingers crossed, please.
