Store Description

May 8,2008

The retail cost for my book will be rising soon by about $2.00 to $31.95. The increase was imposed by the distributor, Ingram. If I kept the price the same, my royalty would drop from $4.90 to $3.12. Of the extra $2 increase, my share is less than half so I'm still losing out on this. But better that than the book going up to $34.95 US)list price

Notice to all customers, especially for Canadians.

Last year, Lulu decreed that all authors with retail distribution for their books sell them at the same suggested retail price as listed by Amazon etc.

So I deleted the print version from Lulu because the total cost for Canadians to order thru Lulu was too expensive compared to Amazon.ca or Chapter's.

Even tho the CDN $ is at relative par with $US now compared to last year, the overall situation hasn't changed because of Lulu's excessive shipping charges to Canada.

Therefore, customers in both Canada and U.S should purchase a print copy thru their favourite online retailer. In Canada, you can order direct thru any of Chapter's, Indigo or Coles stores. American customers have a far wider range of retailers to choose from beside Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

I apologize for this action, but I felt it was the best action, especially for Canadians.

The Canadian Football League: The Phoenix of Professional Sports Leagues (Revised edition)
North American football was born in Canada in the 1860s. For decades, though, the growth of Canadian football was slow to change from its rugby traditions. In recent decades, it has been in the shadow of its largest competitor, the National Football League. Although hockey is held up as Canada's number one sport, the CFL has enjoyed as rich and storied a tradition in Canadian sports history. This book is not the usual general history detailing on-field accomplishments, Grey Cup winners etc. Instead, it combines an historical look through 2003 with discussion of continuous themes which have shaped the League. These include the role of the Canadian player, competition from other pro sports, the media's role in creating an image of the CFL, Canadians' attitudes towards pro sports, and how the CFL continually struggles to survive - often in spite of itself.
