CANTOR JORDAN S. FRANZEL received his Masters of Sacred Music from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion - School of Sacred Music and was ordained as a Cantor in 1996. Prior to his current pulpit, Cantor Franzel served Central Synagogue in New York City and Touro Synagogue in New Orleans. He has been on the faculty of the URJ east coast Kallah and was a guest teacher at the Hava Nashira Institute for Jewish songleaders and musicians and has served on the editorial board for the URJ Songbook, Shireinu. Cantor Franzel can be heard on Experiments in Nusach & Experiments out of Nusach two of his liturgical music CD’s. Cantor Franzel is a serious devotee of Jewish mysticism, specifically Kabbalah and Chasidut, and spends much time studying the writings and spiritual system of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov.  Like his Rebbe, Jordan also tells stories; through music. He hopes his melodies can create spiritual experiences by painting the liturgy with his composition.
